Rural Crafts Revival - Woodland Management

What is Woodland Management?
Well it means exactly what it says; it is a specialist area concerned with the
maintaining and preservation of our forests and woods, along with all of the plants and animal
life that live within these areas. It is becoming increasingly important as a career pathway
because of how climate change is affecting our environment and landscape and also because,
like many of the rural crafts, not enough people are training in these areas to keep important
skills and careers alive, which are crucial in looking after our environment.
To train in Woodland Management involves understanding a lot of different things about our
environment and the ability to practically undertake very different activities / roles. This
is because there isn't just 'one' job you take to 'Woodland Manage', it is a term which describes
a cluster of different careers which are all concerned with issues relating to the woodlands
and nature. What you undertake with your training in REAP's course, will demonstrate a range
of these different career areas.
Was a really great opportunity to find out lots about the environment and work out whether I want to pursue a career in woodland management, would definitely go on another course and have already told my friends about it.
